Plankton Record, June 1891, May 1901-August 1917.

The accession consists of one 11"x16" log book which records number, collection, locality, date and name of collector for each plankton sample. The book pre-dates the establishment of the Marine Biological Association of San Diego and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. William Emerson Ritter is noted as the collector in the earlier records, taken at San Pedro. There are also entries dated 1908 signed "Agassiz." The spine of the volume is labelled "Pacific Coast Collections, [Volume] 1, U. of C." The cover has an adhesive label marked: "Scripps Institution of Oceanography, ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS, Plankton Record 1891, June-1917, August."
